Shine Krishna (born K. Krishnachandran on February 8, 1980) is a multifaceted writer, director, and producer with an extensive career spanning the Indian and international film industries. Since beginning his journey in 1999, he has collaborated with various acclaimed filmmakers. In 2004, he made his directorial debut with an independent documentary for BBC4. Building on his passion for global cinema, he founded the "Wemakefilmz" international filmmakers group in 2005. Under this banner, he has successfully organized film festivals and facilitated the distribution of both Indian feature and short films. A dedicated self-taught filmmaker, Krishna continues to shape the industry through his work as a creative producer and associate director for feature films and television programming.
Early Life and Career Beginnings
Shine Krishna was born into a Malayali family amidst the scenic tea plantations of Peermade. Growing up in a household deeply immersed in the arts, he was influenced by his father, a trade union leader, theatre director, and band leader—and his mother, a theatre actor and garment maker.
His academic journey took him through various institutions and schools, seeking new opportunities. He eventually relocated to New Delhi to further his education. It was in the capital that his passion for cinema transformed into a professional pursuit. Dedicated to mastering the craft, he attended numerous film workshops and completed diploma courses in Delhi and abroad. He studied each of the production departments, eventually leading him to establish his own production banner, "Wemakefilmz." Now it's become Peoplescinema.
